We swam. We rode. We ran.
After a long weekend in Florida for the triathlon, I'm finally starting to get my bearings back and catch up on things. If you've sent me an email or left a voice message that I haven't returned, I promise I'll get back to you soon. If you consider swimming 1/2 mile, biking 12 miles and run/walking 3.1 miles in 93 degree humid weather to be good, then you could say the triathlon was good.
We completed all three events, including the transitions, in 2 hours and 31 minutes. The goal, however, was to finish and definitely not to compete for time. We did the swim in about the same time I had been doing the distance in the pool so that was good. On the bikes, Alina took on the role of cheering the other triathletes along which I was soon doing also and we did not pressure ourselves for time. By the time we got to the run, it was so hot and mostly in the sun there was no way I could have run it, even if we had set out to do that.
I accomplished what I set out to do almost a year ago now, and that was to complete a sprint triathlon. Now the question I keep getting is, will I do it again? At the moment I don't feel the need to but that also isn't saying I wouldn't ever do it again. It is a good feeling to accomplish what you set out to do.
I would like to say a special thank you to my tri buddy, Alina, for coming across the pond to participate with me. Your support and friendship are always appreciated. I'd also like to give a big shout out to Auntie Marion (a.k.a M-er) for being our on-site supporter and photographer. Many thanks for being there!

You definitely rock! It looks like it was a lot of fun. You guys look great!
I was happy to be there to support you both and to carry all that extra stuff. I did learn one thing, I do not like observing an event through the lens of a camera. You miss too much of what is going on, so my hats off to all those photographers out there.
